Campbell has bruised ribs...Bengals Atkins on IR...Qualifying offers in baseball

CLEVELAND (AP) — Cleveland quarterback Jason Campbell has bruised ribs and he may practice this week as the team gets ready for a Nov. 17 meeting with Cincinnati. Campbell suffered the injury in yesterday's win over the Ravens but played through the pain to finish the game. X-rays were negative.

CINCINNATI (AP) — The Bengals have put defensive tackle Geno Atkins on the injured reserve list, four days after he tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. The All-Pro lineman got hurt during the first half of a 22-20 overtime loss at Miami on Thursday night. Atkins led all NFL interior linemen with 12½ sacks last season and led the Bengals with six this season.

BOSTON (AP) — The Boston Red Sox are making $14.1 million qualifying offers to free agents Jacoby Ellsbury, Mike Napoli and Stephen Drew. The team has decided not to make an offer to Jarrod Saltalamacchia, also a free agent although General manager Ben Cherington says he'd like to re-sign the catcher.

ST. LOUIS (AP) — The St. Louis Cardinals have made a one-year, $14.1 million qualifying offer to free agent Carlos Beltran, though they aren't expecting him back next year. General manager John Mozeliak says he expects the 36-year-old Beltran to seek a multiyear extension elsewhere.

CINCINNATI (AP) — The Reds made a $14.1 million qualifying offer to leadoff hitter Shin-Soo Choo, but declined offers to right-hander Bronson Arroyo and four others. Choo was one of the top leadoff hitters in the majors with a .423 on-base percentage, a .285 batting average, 21 homers, 54 RBIs, 20 steals and 107 runs scored.
